WHO WE ARE
We are perfectionists.
That’s quite a claim, but at Jeff King & Company we understand what your home means to you. You want it to be perfect, and perfection is what we strive for.
As dedicated craftsmen, we combine a refined understanding of aesthetics with unstinting attention to detail and an in-depth knowledge of green building techniques.
To us, no detail is too small or too insignificant to take the time to get absolutely right. Whether that’s producing clear estimates, seeking out healthy, sustainable materials or continuing to educate ourselves on the latest green building techniques.
We have been specializing in creative residential remodels and additions in the San Francisco Bay area since 1999. During that time we have honed our craftsmanship on everything from historic buildings to cutting-edge contemporary spaces. And all that experience has enabled us to develop a client-centered process that helps turn dream homes into a reality, and shows a healthy respect for a budget.
With our sophisticated design sensibility, construction expertise and commitment to building green we can partner creatively with architects and designers to help you realize your vision for your home. The results have earned us a long list of satisfied clients and awards. As our portfolio shows, Jeff King & Company are passionate professionals who deliver dynamic, creative results.

Jeff King
PRESIDENT AND FOUNDER
Jeff started the business back in 1994 building custom furniture and cabinets. This was a natural extension of his background as a sculptor, and followed several years of teaching art and art history at the secondary and university levels. Jeff’s background as an artist has given his company a uniquely creative perspective from the start.
As Jeff’s reputation for quality workmanship grew so did his business. In 1999 he became a licensed contractor and founded the company that exists today specializing in remodels and additions throughout the San Francisco area.
In recent years, Jeff has been a leading proponent of green building, becoming a Certified Green Building Professional (CGBP) in 2004. He participated in one of the first certification courses offered by Build It Green, a non-profit organization that promotes healthy, energy and resource-efficient buildings.
Jeff’s dedication to excellence is infectious and as a result the company has received numerous awards on the local, regional and national level, including a 2006 award for Overall Excellence issued by the local chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry. In 2008, Jeff King & Company was named a Big 50 company by major trade publication Remodeling Magazine. Companies named to the Big 50 have distinguished themselves by outperforming their best competitors through outstanding customer service, exemplary business practices, exceptional management skills and top quality work.

Certified Green Building Professional, a member of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), Build It Green (B.I.G), The Green Remodelers Guild, The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI), American Institute of Architects (AIA) and Remodelers Advantage, Inc.

Marci Nava
OFFICE MANAGER
Marci Nava jokes that she should wear a pocket protector and thick glasses: that’s how much she likes numbers. This enthusiasm, combined with a bachelor’s degree from Cal State Long Beach and accounting certificate from Santa Monica, make her a first rate authority on bookkeeping. Beginning with six years experience working for an established builder of custom estates in Los Angeles, Marci first gained knowledge of the procedures and accounting processes that work most efficiently in real-world situations. At Jeff King & Co, she manages the office with an appreciation for its sustainable building practices while enjoying the small business feel that promotes personal level interactions.
Besides being an accounting whiz, Marci also enjoys meeting new people, having a great conversation, and giving back to the community. She volunteered in the Peace Corps from 2003-2005 during which she lived in Suriname, South America, helping local village women establish a system for growing vegetables. They thrived selling produce to the local gold mining company while still having some leftover for their own families. Back in Los Angeles, Marci joined with the Burrito Project to prepare and pass out meals to the homeless community. Marci continues to spread goodwill in the Bay Area while enjoying the food, art and culture of San Francisco.
Matt Lovering

His excellent standing with homeowners if reinforced by years of experience as a project manager; helping him apply close attention to detail with responsive service. Matt lends an extra set of eyes and ears to the minute variables of every project so that Jeff King & Co’s reputation for quality building is consistently upheld.
Matt is well poised to manage any conflicts with professionalism and pace. He also enjoys fostering the most informed decision-making environment possible by identifying all opportunities that the remodel presents to clients. Drawing on experience from past jobs, Matt is able to communicate the pros and cons of all options with clarity. An attentive ear for listening has earned him the respect and likeability that makes Matt our trusted production manager.
Outside of the office, you can often find Matt on his motorcycle or doing metalworking. He devotes most of his time to playing with his two year old son, who wants to build houses too.

Brian Dutro
