Building Better Building Green
At Jeff King & Company we’re passionate about the quality
of our work. We want to produce the best building possible for you and
we firmly believe that building better means building green.
That’s why Jeff himself was one of the first building contractors in
San Francisco to become a Certified Green Building
Professional (CGBP). And it’s why today every one of our management level
production staff is also a CGBP and our Production
Manager is a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Accredited Professional.
Our whole company is committed to continued improvement and education, and to that end
we are proud and involved members of Build
It Green and the United States Green Building Council.
Our approach to remodeling emphasizes quality construction and the use of the latest
environmentally sound materials and techniques. This results in longer lasting, more
energy efficient and healthier homes.
As a company we have established standard green building practices that are
applied to all our projects at no additional cost.
The following are just a few of the ways we can build better for you:

Efficient
Good energy design and high efficiency infrastructure can work together to ensure
that your home is more
comfortable:
- · Low E and insulated windows
- · Cavity insulation in excess of Title 24 requirements
- · Appropriately sized HVAC and hot water delivery systems
- · Energy Star rated appliances and fixtures
- · Photovoltaic and solar-thermal panels
Healthy
We employ everything we can to improve your indoor air quality:
- · Low-VOC paints and finishes
- · Formaldehyde-free Insulation and plywoods
- · Sealed combustion boilers and furnaces
- · High efficiency boilers and furnaces
- · Whole house ventilation systems
Sustainable
We reuse components of your existing structure wherever possible and
employ other sustainable practices:
- · Fly ash concrete mixtures used in footings, foundations, and slabs
- · Use of engineered lumber
- · Recycling of all construction waste, minimum 60%
- · Use of Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified lumber
and wood products
Durable
We work to help lower maintenance and replacement costs and energy bills by using materials,
systems and
appliances that last longer and are more efficient. It’s not green if it’s not built to last:
- · Natural cedar shingles or hardiplank siding
- · Aluminum clad windows with low E glazing
- · Energy Star appliances and fixtures
- · Integral color stuccos and plasters
- · Copper flashings and gutters
